Carla Martins has a degree and a master's in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Communication Sciences, specialising in Media and Journalism, from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the New University of Lisbon.
Since January 2015, has been an advisor to the President of the Portuguese Parliament. She is a member of the staff of the Media Regulatory Authority as a media analysis specialist.
As a researcher, participated in various projects centred on the relationship between the media and gender, which have resulted in the presentation of national and international papers and the publication of scientific articles on the subject.
Author of Women, Political Leadership and the Media (2015, Alêtheia Editores) and The Public Space in Hannah Arendt: The Political as Relation and Communicative Action (2005, Minerva Coimbra).
